Liturgical Ministry Schedule December 31, 2011 thru April 2, 2012

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

Altar Servers

Altar serving is an excellent way for young people to become actively involved in the Mass.  As an altar server, you provide an essential service to the Presider, as well as serve as an example for the entire Good Shepherd community.   Altar servers must be 10 yrs old or in the 4th grade and must be enrolled in CFF or a Catholic School.   For more information contact Janet O’Campo @ goodshepherd.altarservers@gmail.com.

Art & Environment

Men and women, who appreciate art, design and flowers, are encouraged to share their talents to create an environment in our worship space that enhances the liturgy. The Parish supplies all needed resources. For more information contact Terry DeFrates @ defratesrt@frontiernet.net.

Baptism Ministers

Baptism Ministers help the families preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism. Additionally, ministers set-up for the celebration of the sacrament in group baptisms and assist at the liturgy when the sacrament is celebrated at mass. This is a very rewarding experience for a married couple. Alternatively, you could be paired with another minister as an individual. For more information contact Deacon Ed Smith @ esmith632@frontiernet.net.

Bereavement Ministry

Bereavement Ministry works with the Presider and the family to prepare for the funeral liturgy. The team will work with the Presider to become familiar with the requirements of the Funeral Mass and interface with the grieving families. For more information contact Denise in the  Parish Office @ 684-5722 or goodshepherdchurch@frontiernet.net.

Children’s Liturgy Of The Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a ministry designed to accommodate children in first through fourth grades. The children process out of church during Mass and go to the Resource Room, so that they can hear the Word of God in age appropriate language. They then participate in discussions about what they are reading. For more information contact Irene Camerino @ Irene.Camerino@frx.com.

Children’s Choir

The children choir sings on the 2nd Sunday of every month at the 9:00am Mass. All children in the parish age 4 and up are invited to participate. For more information contact Catherine Lowry @ lowrymusic@earthlink.net.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers assist the Presider in the distribution of communion at Mass or other special events such as special Liturgical events, funerals, and/or weddings. Ministers must be a Catholic in good standing, registered in the parish and over the age of 18 years. For more information contact Valerie Ramos @ valerie.ramos@comcast.net.

Eucharistic Ministry To The Homebound

Eucharistic to the Homebound Ministry involves taking the Eucharist/Communion to people who are ill and cannot attend Mass. In addition, the Eucharist is delivered to people in Assisted Living Facilities and to the incarcerated. For more information, or to sign up as a Eucharist Minister to the Homebound, please contact Pat Viduya at 525-1595 or @ patviduya@surewest.net.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim God's Word to the assembled faith community. Three lectors are scheduled to read at each Sunday Mass. Training sessions are held several times a year and workbooks are provided for each lector to help them prepare for and understand their readings in order to properly proclaim God’s word.   For more information contact Kelli Baker @ 4thebaker4@gmail.com.

Liturgy Board

The Liturgy Board is a small group that strives to continually monitor, organize, and improve our worship experience. The group is composed of the two Priests and two Deacons, and a small number of parishioners. For more information contact Pat Viduya @ patviduya@surewest.net.

Mass Coordinators

Mass Coordinators are responsible for the smooth flow of liturgy at Good Shepherd. The coordinator is monitoring the work of others more than he or she is actually carrying out activities. In essence, the Mass Coordinator will make sure the church is ready for liturgy, ensure presence of all scheduled participants, respond to emergencies during liturgy, and close up church after liturgy. For more information contact Gary Watson @ Watson.g@comcast.net.

Music Ministry

Ministers of Music proclaim God’s word through song and assist the assembly in the singing of hymns, psalms, acclamations, and praise songs. There are four different “choirs,” or musical groups, at Good Shepherd, who sing and play for their respective services. For more information contact Mary Palmer @ wepalmers5@comcast.net.

Ushers

The Usher Ministry is a great opportunity to meet parishioners of Good Shepherd Church while serving a vital service in the performance of the Mass. The hospitality that Ushers show in helping people find a seat, in collecting the gifts of money or in guiding the Communion procession must reflect the idea that the Church is our home.  Any parishioner at least 12 years in age or older may be an Usher. Children under age 12 must be assisted by an adult during the collection. For more information contact Edwin Camerino @ ecamerino@frontiernet.net.
