PARISH LIFE MINISTRIES

Elizabeth Ministry

Elizabeth Ministers provide support and encouragement to other women of our parish when someone is experiencing either a joy or crisis related to pregnancy and childbirth.   If you have experienced the joy of welcoming a child to your family through birth or adoption, the sorrow of infertility, the grief of miscarriage, or the rollercoaster of the adoption process, you can help someone else going through those same experiences by ministering to her. A secondary activity of our group is bringing meals to families who have just brought a new baby into their home or are on bed rest. Volunteers can agree to be on the Meals Team without also being an Elizabeth Minister. For more information contact Miranda Fuglsang @ PlayandLearn20@aol.com

Hospitality

Hospitality ministries welcome and greet fellow parishioners and friends to the community of Good Shepherd Church. We would like to form a committee that will meet to plan future ideas to enhance the unity of fellow parishioners. For more information contact Janine Menager @ neeners@comcast.net.

Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)

The Good Shepherd Pastoral Council is a consultative body that helps the pastor identify, evaluate and implement those pastoral initiatives and policies best suited to spread the Gospel.  The council is the policy formulating body in all matters of pastoral ministry of the parish except to the extent limited by church or civil law or diocesan policy. For more information please contact Juanita Baier @ Baier@juanitabaier@comcast.net

Respect for Life

The Respect Life Committee seeks to help make Good Shepherd Parish a center for life, a place where parishioners understand the issues and the importance of meeting the needs of those who are most vulnerable-particularly mothers and their unborn children, the seriously ill and their families. For more information, or to join the Respect for Life Committee, please contact Gary Hickman @ greenhope28@yahoo.com

Social Committee

The Social Committee organizes and runs events at Good Shepherd Church.  Annually, we run the Crab Feed in January and the Spaghetti Feed in May.  We also participate in the Parish Festival by organizing the Pancake Breakfast.  Additionally, we set-up and provide food for various receptions and pot-lucks of the Parish.  For more information contact Irma Michel @ irmamichel@surewest.net.

Social Justice

As members of the Social Justice Group of Good Shepherd parish, we come together to affirm and actively support the Seven Principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Activities may include planning prayer services, preparing petitions which reflect social justice concerns for the Sunday Liturgy and serving at Loaves and Fishes.  The group may sponsor guest speakers for the Parish.  We welcome members who may want to explore specific social justice issues with our group to discern, pray, and act with a faith perspective. Through the group we receive information regarding various social justice events happening outside the Parish and bring it to the Parish's attention. For more information please contacts:  Deacon Bill @ sousaw@frontiernet.net or Jeff Henigan @ jeffreyah@aol.com.

Stewardship Committee

Stewardship is an attitude of gratitude for gifts which are expressed in prayers, worship, giving and action by eagerly sharing our gifts of time, talent and treasure out of the love of God and one another. This ministry also welcomes new parishioners to our community of faith. If you have any questions, please contact the chairperson, Rommel Declines @ rjdeclines@me.com

Welcome Team

The Welcome Team works to reach out to all new parishioners of Good Shepherd. We strive to ensure that all who join our community feel a part of the Good Shepherd family when they register. For more information contact Barbara Casey @ monknfrog2@comcast.net
